HTA of New York

I've forwarded a recent letter from Director of HTA of New York, he explains the importance of what must be done to ensure the safety of 543,000+ births that are premature. He is an authority who represents the people, and not from a private organization.
To re-iterate, we do not wish to re-create the wheel, and as always we do not compete for the donation dollar, we only wish to contribute.

Hi John
I was able to read your letters to The March of Dimes in full last
night. Great Letter! You should try and look up The Early Intervention
Program. It is a federally sponsored program, for infants and toddlers
ages birth to three years old. The program provides free assessments of
infants and toddlers with suspected delays or at risk for delays. Last
we met, I encouraged you to contact the program (every state has one),
so that Anthony can be assessed to determine if he is developing at age
level. The evaluators come to the home and assess the 5 areas of
development (cognitive, communication with oral motor and feeding
assessments, social, self-help skills and physical development). If the
infant has a delay then therapy is provided to the child in the home at
no cost to the parents. Many parents/caretakers are unaware of this
federally funded program. Every NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) is
supposed to refer all of their premature babies to the Early
Intervention Program upon discharge. In addition, any child birth to
three years old that has been referred to the Child Abuse Program in
their municipality, by Public Health Law is required to be screened by
The Early Intervention Program. I am surprised and dismayed that this
did not automatically happen when Anthony was discharged from the NICU.
In addition, any infant that weighs 900 grams or less upon birth is
automatically eligible to receive services from The Early Intervention
Program in their state. The New York City Department of Health which
manages NYC's Early Intervention Program, does not allow any official
from a private organization that involves itself with providing services
to the NYC EI Program (EI means Early Intervention Program) from
marketing their services. So I cannot represent HTA of New York because
we are a private...for-profit organization that provides the therapists
for The NYC EI Program. Therefore if I do join you in any capacity, I
can only talk about The Early Intervention Program (not my agency). I
believe it would be more fruitful in making parents/caregivers aware of
The Early Intervention Program in their State, then advertising the
agency that I work for. Please google The Early Intervention Program in
your State as it shares the same concerns for the well being of infants
and toddlers as you and your organization does.
I am looking forward to seeing you when you are in town.
Regards,
Dr. Concepcion Jusino

Thank you for your concern and I applaud your efforts in ensuring premature children receive the care that they need. We have reached out to many of the talk shows as this is a great vehicle to reach the audiences vital for the awareness needed for change.
If you are still interested in being an authority I would grately appreciate it. Just to reiterate, we are an organization that does not want to compete but to rather support like minded organizations. We are grateful that you still support our cause.
We invite you once again to be an authority of Premature Births. In addition, we have Harvard School of Mental Health on board and I believe your participation would compliment significantly. Once again, we applaud your work on keeping our children safe. You are truly healers, and in a time like this, we need all the healers we can get.
We are also connecting to The White House, and although we were applauded by past administrations, the current administration supports individuals making change within our communities and we are doing not only for our immediate community but for the nation in total. President Obama says all it takes is one person, but it takes more than that. We are making our imprint for the sake of humanity.

We sponsor like minded organizations who share our commitment to humanity.
The KathyRinaldiHope Foundation is an organization that has supported itself since it's conception back in 1989. Although being a 501 c3 national non-profit incorporated since 1996, we re-create the wheel and act as a measuring tool to the many non-profits in the world today.
We believe that the more we give to those we intend to help, the more lives we can change.
We do not prescribe to 6 figure salaries. We receive $0.
We do not prescribe to first class air-fare. We pay our own way or it is donated.
We do not, and will never take advantage of the goodness of the people we wish to serve.
Anything less than an 86% percent donation that does not go directly to the cause is in our opinion criminal, and to combat those lining their own pockets, we are self sufficient and create our own funding through legitimate business.
A non-profit is only as good as what is given back.
We sponsor like minded organizations who share our commitment to humanity.

The Bonnie Hunt Show

Dear Jamie Shapiro:
I know The Bonnie Hunt Show is not an issue oriented show, and have only in the past dealt with cancer survivor research and support, but I am hoping to appeal to your sense of hope for children.
I've made it my life's mission to ensure all children live their best life and in order to do so, we must provide all children with the appropriate tools beginning with offering the most resources to assist all children with the hopes of being carried to a full term. The best way to even begin is to address this issue.
1 in 8 births are premature and the March Of Dimes has given our country a D grade for their insolence surrounding this cause. We can correct this grade simply by making the country aware.
As someone affected first hand by prematurity- having Anthony born this past 8 June 2009 at 2lbs. 1oz, and as an individual who runs an organization who's mission is to Ensure All Children Live Their Best Life, we support the March Of Dimes, and city agencies like Manhattan's HTA.
We propose a segment that spreads awareness to a cause that can be easily avoided given simple awareness. What we would like is to have myself- President/Founder of a 15 year 501 c3 incorporated organization on with Anthony who born at only 2lbs. 1oz. to put a face to the cause come on the show to discuss Premature births. On the show we would like to give the audience March Of Dimes Bands, t-shirts, and gift items. We also have many friends in the television, film, and recording world who I believe would be more than happy to join us.
Please follow the link to a blog that was set up to provide a more detailed account of what we stand for and hope to achieve. In addition, we are a 501 c3 incorporated non profit guardianed by Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, & Flom.
Every year 543,000 births are premature and the greatest contributor to infant mortality, including lung, brain, eye, heart, and spine underdevelopment. The March of Dimes are doing tremendous work and outstanding efforts to prevent prematurity so that all babies get theirimportant nine months. And organizations such as HTA of New York offer in-home care to all children born prematurely to ensure proper development of brain, muscle, and eye development. The March Of Dimes has declared November to be National Preemie Month and we as an organization that ensures all children live their best life would like to acknowledge November being National Preemie month because the only way to ensure that any child could live their best life starts with the hope of a full term birth and to be fully developed and this can only be achieved with proper awareness and proper care.
My entire life has gone to making the world a better place, and you have the ability to change the world. Even if one baby is brought to full term through our message, his/her life will be forever improved.
Best Regards,
